Holidays…

Well thankfully Mother Nature had a fairly nice moment and made sure that Cyclone Ita didn’t really do any damage to Cairns other than a fair bit of rain before I arrived.

She did however make it so that I had to fly over the top of it on the way to Cairns, which was an interesting few minutes.

Cairns however was lovely and warm and not rainy…but ever so humid!!!  I can not believe my body had forgotten what such high humidity was like.  Or maybe it was that I never used to go on 30-60 minute walks in such humidity…but it was always a nice way to start the day, except for being covered in sweat.

Then again the king sized bed with ocean views helped…lots!!!

And of course what would a mention of football be without the obligatory Josh Gibson photo..

Now before anyone asks I did actually leave the hotel room…for food, for shopping and for the movies.

I managed to go to 4 movies in three days.

I saw Noah…gee it was pretty full on and I’m not the world’s biggest Russell Crowe fan, yes I’m sure it is un-Australian to some extent.

I saw The Monuments Men…what can I say my lack of love for Russell Crowe is well and truly out there for George Clooney!!

I saw The Other Woman…quite funny actually.

And I saw The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which I quite liked, especially in 3D.

Plus like I said shopping…getting ready for winter, which I’m not enjoying…buying long sleeve tops to wear until more summer like tunic tops and buying cardigans and jumpers and a couple more tops.

Then was the delightful flight home…god love using frequent flyer points on business class seats both ways…makes a flight so much nicer!!!

Followed by 860km (534 miles) drive home with the grocery shopping on the way.

Unfortunately home isn’t quite as warm overnight and in the mornings as Cairns was…which was a slight shock to the system yesterday.  But it was made up for with Easter Sunday on the couch, under the doona, writing an essay and watching Big Bang Theory…which is always a good show.

Now if only WordPress hadn’t changed things and I could easily make some pictures smaller…oh well, I’ll work out how to do that later.
