Cinderella…wake up and smell the damn roses already!

The daily prompt is tell us about a favorite character from film, theater, or literature, with whom you’d like to have a heart-to-heart. What would you talk about?

Now this isn’t my favourite character, but I feel like having a good old heart-to-heart Dr Phil or any other talk show style with Cinderella.  I want to tell her the cold heart facts about life and love.

“Now listen up lovey, there is not point singing ‘Someday my prince will come’,” will be my opening line to her.

“Seriously, are you trying to tell me that you need a prince in your life to get by?  You can’t manage to be a modern woman and do things for yourself?  Sure a prince would be nice, sure everyone wants someone there to share the good times and the bad.  But we don’t all go around singing that we hope they’ll come some day…not we get off our bums and dance around on our own to our own beat getting life down and paving a path for ourselves in the process.  I mean if I spent all day singing about my damn prince then the washing wouldn’t get done, I wouldn’t get fed, I wouldn’t get much work done…oh wait that’s right, you were doing all those things while singing about waiting for your prince.  You needed to man up and tell that stepmother of yours that she needed to do her own washing, cooking and cleaning and take some control of your own life Cinderella.  Life’s not just handed to you love, you have to get out there and grasp it for yourself and make your own life.”
