Masterchef…Australia & US

Now I love a good bit of reality tv, I love a good cooking show.  Hence I love Masterchef!!  The most recent Australian series ended just over a week ago and there were a few characters on there, but in no way, shape or form do they compare with some of the characters on the current American series, which I’ve been watching.

In the Australian series everyone was generally very nice to each other (compared to the US series…..oh dear lord there’s plenty of swear words dropped in that series).

Some of the contestants Australia had were (contestant profiles can be found through the link in the image).

The lovely N.T. stockman Lynton (who ended up as runner up)

The gorgeous stay at home mum, who loves the 1950’s (dressing accordingly) and just happens to be a lesbian Christina

The seriously good looking fitness coach Daniel

And the gorgeous winner former town planner Emma

Now some of the US Masterchef contestants…

There’s Natasha…she wouldn’t get far in the Australia series with all the high heels she wears in the kitchen, yep, they’re not allowed in the Australian version.

There’s Krissi, OMFG is the only reaction to her.  I love her, very outspoken, but wow the others hate her and they all make it very well known with a lot of swear words thrown in.

Then there’s Jessie, comes across as all sugary sweet, but she definitely gives as good as she gets.

Now the Australian version has a website which includes recipes for all the amazing food, especially the amazing pressure test recipes set by well known chefs…OMG some of it is ridiculously hard, but so droolworthy!

Such as these from this season’s pressure tests… (the recipes are in the links in the pictures)

Louros Chocolate Entremet

This may look easy…looks are very deceiving as it has: white chocolate cremeux, roasted milk chocolate mousse, chocolate mirror glaze, chocolate pain de gene, walnut black sesame florentine, crispy rice base and chocolate spheres.

This doesn’t look easy with all it’s layers, but OMG…can someone make this for me???  Please!!!  It has: mandarin ‘jaffa’ ganache, ‘musk mallow (made using musk sticks), mint paste (made using spearmint leaves lollies), ‘spearmint leaves’ buttercream, ‘freckles’ crunch (complete with 100s and 1000s and popping candy), ‘banana’ syrup (made using banana lollies), almond joconde, ‘redskins’ glaze (made using redskins lollies) and red sugar spirals.

Plight of the bees

This was in the finale.  It has meringue, lemon and wild thyme honey cream, thyme ice, a pumpkin layer, a mandarin layer and freeze dried apple.

Just a few bits to tempt your taste buds!
